Tapanani on ollut katsoa Oscar gaala niiden tuloaikaan televisiosta; läpiyön maratooni siis. Ensi sunnuntain ja maanantain välisenä yönä tulevan Oscar gaalan voisin kuitenkin miltei jättää väliin, muun muassa Ryan Goslingin, Driven, Tintin ja Andy Serkinsin snubbauksesta. Ja puolestaan sellaisten heppujen kuten, Brad Pitt ja George Clooney, komeilusta parhaiden näyttelijöiden ehdokaslistalla.

En ole nähnyt useitakaan elokuvista, mutta Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close -elokuvan mukanaolo vaikuttaa lähinnä vitsiltä. Elokuva kertoo 9/11:stä.

Valitsin George Clooneyn voittamaan pääosapystin, koska hän on kuitenkin Hollywoodin oma kultapoika. Kerran hän on voittanut sivuosa-Oscarin, mutta se kirkkain puuttuu. Parhaaksi elokuvaksi valitsin taas The Artistin lähinnä kuulopuheiden pohjalta. Elokuva on kai jonkinlainen ennakkosuosikki. Ja ei kai 2000-luvulla tehtyä mustavalkoista mykkäelokuvaa voi muuta kuin palkita vuoden parhaaksi - niin retroa, hä?

Drive ja Tintti puolestaan dissattiin tärkeimmmissä kategorioissa, joten uskoisin että ne saavat lohdutuspalkinnot musiikkimaailmoistaan. Drivessä oli ainakin oikeasti hyvä sound editing.

Ohjaajan pystin laitoin Scorsesen kätöseen puhtaasti fiilis pohjalta. Hugoa en ole nähnyt, mutta ehkä Scorsesen palkintokaappia paikkaillaan näin jälkikäteen oikein kunnolla. Vuoden 1991 Oscar gaalassa Mafiaveljien ollessa useassa kategoriassa ehdolla (kuten myös kummisetä 3?!?!), vei suurimmat pystit Kevin Costnerin Tanssii susien kanssa.

Parhaaksi ulkomaalaiseksi elokuvaksi valitsin sen mikä oli tehty Israelissa. Hollywood on täynnä juutalaisia, voisivatko he snubata valitun kansan tekeleen? No, se jää nähtäväksi, mutta tuntuu siltä, että minulla on aika hyvät tsäänssit! :D
